The Florida Counties With the Most Businesses (2026)
Florida's business activity is wildly uneven across its 67 counties. Miami-Dade alone holds about 1,677,867 active business entities, more than the next two counties combined, and the six busiest counties together account for roughly 58% of every registered entity in the state. Here's the full ranking, pulled from sneyk's index of Florida Division of Corporations records as of June 8, 2026.
The top six counties (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Orange, Hillsborough, and Pinellas) hold about 58% of Florida's 7,772,258 active entities.

South Florida carries the load
The story at the top is a South Florida story. Miami-Dade (1,677,867) and Broward (951,444) are one and two, and Palm Beach makes three. Stack those three tri-county neighbors together and you get a block of registrations no other region of the state comes close to matching. We break the region down in the South Florida tri-county business report.

It isn't only about population
Bigger counties have more businesses, sure. But the ratio shifts in interesting ways. Pinellas, the St. Petersburg side of Tampa Bay, packs 397,222 entities into a smaller, denser county and ranks well above several larger-population counties. Duval (Jacksonville), despite a large population, sits lower on the per-resident measure. The gap between raw count and per-capita density is its own story, and we tell it in Florida business density per capita.
